On December 13, 2024, Ismailis across the globe will come together to celebrate Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 88th birthday. This special occasion serves as a moment to honor the spiritual connection between each murid and the Imam-of-the-Time.
Ismaili Muslims have, throughout history, been guided by a hereditary Imam, descended directly from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) through Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Bibi Fatima. This living tradition continues today with His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th Imam.
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1936, Hazar Imam assumed the role of Imam at just 20 years old, succeeding his grandfather. Over six decades, he has worked tirelessly for the spiritual and material well-being of Ismailis, while also earning global recognition for promoting peace, fostering hope, and advocating for human dignity.
This celebration allows the Jamat to not only reflect on their bond with Hazar Imam but also express gratitude, love, and loyalty to the Imamat, which unites the Ismaili community worldwide.
